Experience
I earned my bachelor's degree in English from Dordt College, and went on to earn my master's degree in Education at Concordia University in St. Paul, Minnesota. I have been a tutor for most of those years, and the greatest compliment I ever received was when a school administrator told me I had an ability to reach the students that others have had a hard time motivating, including many at-risk students. I took this to heart, and have continued to improve my tutoring skills through the years. I believe that all students can achieve their educational goals, and find satisfaction in guiding them towards this. I tutor students in language arts subjects because I highly value communication, and believe students will have more success if they are able to be aware of and communicate their ideas more effectively. I also believe that tutoring provides me the opportunity to work on an individual level with students who need to learn in ways that maybe are not being used in their classroom. I enjoy working with students from a variety of backgrounds, and with a varying level of abilities. Outside of tutoring, I enjoy reading, writing, and traveling.
